Punishments in our country are quite strange.
Firstly, we can see, that the biggest terms are given not to murderers or rapists, but to those people who stole a big amount of money. On the other hand, it is really scandalous that people who killed are let out of prison after three or four years. And usually these three or four years can't change the way of thinking of these criminals.
I think it is time government changed the law. But I would rather they did not include death penalty. In my opinion it is too simple and unfair in relation to victims. However I am for idea of "three strikes and you're out" - the idea that after committing three crimes criminals are locked up to life.
To conclude, I am sure we need to change our Estonian system of justice. People must not lose faith in it.
